Jacob (“Jake”) A. Childers, M.D.

Dr. Childers currently practices Urgent Care Medicine at Austin Regional Clinic’s Far West location where he has worked since 2009 and serves as Medical Director of eMD Access, ARC’s acute care on-demand telemedicine service.

Dr. Childers has practiced Urgent Care Medicine for 12 years after completing his residency in Family Medicine at Carolinas Healthcare System in Charlotte, NC. Since 2012, Dr. Childers has led the development of a crowdsourcing disease research platform, has been heavily involved in the creation and implementation of three separate telehealth software platforms, and has been an advisor to multiple med-tech startups. Dr. Childers previously served as Executive Director of the Walters Physician Incubator and is currently active as an advisor in Dell Medical School’s Texas Health Catalyst. In 2017 Dr. Childers testified before the Texas Senate Health and Human Services Committee and the Texas House Public Health Committee in favor of Texas’ recently enacted telemedicine bill, SB 1107.

Dr. Childers studied Biomedical Science at Texas A&M University, graduating Cum Laude. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas McGovern School of Medicine in Houston, TX before completing his Family Medicine Residency in North Carolina.

Dr. Childers recently celebrated 20 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, cycling and hiking outdoors, reading non-fiction, snow skiing, and photography.
