About EDGE: Policy

The purpose of Edge: Policy is to help you innovate, think bigger and learn from each other. Attendees will walk away inspired with new ideas, learn what their competitive Edge is and gain insight on how to optimize it. Our goal is to change the story around virtual care and our events reflect that. We curate content and experiences designed to shed new light on timely topics in virtual care with a focus on the why. 

EDGE: Policy 2019 will take place November 20-22 at The Watergate Hotel Washington. Hear from White House officials, Congressional leaders and staff, and policy experts on the telehealth topics driving the day. Learn from leaders and join the discussion around Medicare reimbursement, Medicare Advantage changes, and CMMI innovative payment models; the role of AI in improving care quality and access; the need for connectivity via broadband and 5G; progress in the states; and the ways that patient-initiated telehealth can fill gaps in care.

Members will hear from a top-level Administration official on the intersection of technology and health care. The health care landscape will continue to undergo changes as technology and connectivity capacities advance in the coming years. During this session, we will look to the future to identify connectivity barriers, upcoming technological advances, and how the Trump Administration prioritizes innovation that can promote telehealth.

ATA members with cutting edge technology will share how they see technology changing telehealth in the future and will respond to how government is helping—or hindering—these advancements.
12:15 – 1:15 p.m. Lunch and Fireside Chat with Administration Official
1:15 – 2:15 p.m. What is the Direction of Direct-to-Consumer Health?
Panelists will include senior leaders from patient-initiated platforms, and discussion will focus on how DTC telehealth is filling care gaps. We’ll also explore what the biggest policy challenges are in the industry and how we can educate state and federal regulators to better understand DTC telehealth.

Medicare Telehealth Payment - Past, Present, and Future
Guests will hear from representatives from Medicare Advantage, Medicare Fee for Service, and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation. Topics of discussion will include regulatory barriers in place and how CMS is addressing them, the role of telehealth in Innovation Center models, and the evolution of telehealth in both Medicare Advantage and Fee for Service.
